The heart of the X-band radar is part of a Furuno 7252 marine radar, the part that is meant to be mounted atop a boat, without the antenna. It is housed in an old military radar (AN/GPG-1 tracker) and the X-band waveguide connections are visible here. This project is supported by students and faculty in ECE345 Senior Design class at the University of Illinois and by the Illinois Natural History Survey shop.
